Rapra Limited is a Membership-based not for profit organization providing privileged access to world-class technical and information services for companies involved in rubber or plastics manufacturing, processing or final end use. These services are mainly provided by Smithers Rapra and Smithers Scientific Service with whom Rapra Limited operated a Membership Services agreement, ensuring that Members receive privileged client treatment via the package of Membership benefits.

Smithers Rapra, as one of main service provides of Rapra Limited, operates two ISO17025 accredited product test labs in the UK, at Shawbury and at Billingham site where they specialise in material and product testing services for the automotive industry. Smithers Rapra support their customers who are Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s), Tier 1 and 2 system and component suppliers, and materials producers in the supply chains to many of the leading European car manufacturers. Smithers Rapra also provide a wide range of performance evaluations on virgin and recycled plastics, rubbers, sealants and surface coatings. These service offerings cover a range of mechanical and dynamic testing capabilities including abrasion resistance, resistance to UV & light, odour, fogging, chemical analysis and general physical properties.

Smithers Scientific Services Inc., is an independent testing, research and consulting firm and is another service provider of Rapra Limited. Specialising in

"Vehicle Component Testing"  which includes Mechanical durability, Servo-hydraulic fatigue, Dynamic mechanical characterization, Environmental stress, Strain gauge installation, Instrumentation services, Wheel testing, Reinforced rubber products;

"Engineering Services" which includes Product failure analysis, Tyre technology, Vehicle performance modeling, Mechanical rubber goods technology, Rubber and plastics compounding, Metallurgical consulting, Forensic analysis;

"Materials Testing"  which includes Polymer characterization, Dynamic fatigue of composites, Polymer compound reconstruction, Metallurgical analysis, Environmental exposure, Test Development, Competitive analysis;

"Tyre Performance Characterization"  which includes Modeling for Ftire, MF Swift, CD tyre, Adams Tire; SAE road loads data, Rolling resistance J2452/J1269, Laboratory treadwear, Force and moment properties, High speed uniformity; Tire footprint stress analysis.
