IMOULD went to its member factory, Taizhou Huangyan Mingyi Plastic & Mould Factory, on a sunny day, and was warmly received by Mr. Zhang, President of the factory.

Mr. Zhang always looks neat and kind. He was receiving foreign customers when we arrived. Seeing us, he devolved the task to the foreign trade manager, and guided us to his office. We begain with his venture history.

Ten years ago, Mr. Zhang worked in Huangyan No. 6 Factory. From business expansion to business management, he accumulated rich experience. he was excellent in each respect and was highly appreciated by the factory presideng Mr. Zhang Jiamin. However, this was not his career goal. He left the factory, started his own business with a refresh beginning. On the first year, the total output of his factory was only hundreds of thousands yuan, which meant he even couldn’t afford workers’ salary. The main market of large moulds like bumper moulds was domited by large companies already, and there would be great difficulties competing with them. He found there were no one made small moulds. He dropped the familiar large moulds, and began to make small ones like electronic connector moulds and electric switch moulds. Although these moulds are small, their speciality lie in precision. The strategy was proved to be great success. Mr. Zhang formed his unique advantages, and also improved his workers’ technique. Guided by the principle of making small moulds which most people thought of little profits, his sales rose steadly, and broke through million yuan. Never give up and seek for perfect, this is the idea Mr. Zhang always bear in mind. With the accumulation of funds, his business expand again. During his contact with foreign customers, he found many of them also need injection service. He then bought ten sets of Haitian injection machines at once, and opened a new injection workshop that operated independently. The workshop injects products for Mingyi, and also for other factories who are in need. This strategy also was a success. More and more customers come for cooperation with him.

We then visited the injection workshop which was three minuts by car from the mould workshop. Workers were busy everywhere, but were in order, and kept the floor clean. Goods were packed up in delivery boxes. Mr. Zhang pointed to one of the production line, told us that was the patent products of an US medical equipment company. They had reached the first deal. The total sum would be about ten million yuan. He said he was considering to build a new and mordern workshop that would include moulds and injection right now. He was selecting the location these days.

Next stop was the sample room. Different from other mould factories, samples are injected electrical items like electronic connectors, electrical switches, instrument pannels, and electronic boxes instead of daily use goods. On the walls are some calligraphy works sent by his friends. Mr. Zhang said these works had encouraged him to fight with any difficulty.

In the end, Mr. Zhang talked his experience in international trade. He is diligent and eager to learn. He has taken many classes like ENBA organized by Zhejiang University to improve his knowledge and quality. In order to talk with foreigners with fluent English, he insisted on learning English for all these years. So we can easily recognize more than half of foreign orders are taken by Mr. Zhang himself. In the reception room, Mr. Zhang laughed happily with his customers. The various certificates awarded by his customers proved that Mingyi is a good supplier, and has good cooperation relationship with all customers. This is the secret for his success.
