World Premier for New Gillard Machinery at K 2010

Gillard, a UK-based specialist in extrusion cutting has reported that the new Servo-Torq Ultra cutting system, an extrusion cutting machine, which is reportedly a high performance unit for smooth, cuffed and corrugated plastic as well as rubber tube or pipe.
The company says that the new machine uses a special digital camera system to locate the peaks along the length of corrugated tube. This ensures that every cut takes place where it is intended to. This is normally in the middle of the flat or smooth part of the pipe.
According to Gillard, many complex cuffed pipes for the medical and automotive industries contain a mix of both good cut lengths and scrap pieces. Special software has been developed and integrated into the technology to allow the operator to program the exact sequence of good cuts that are required.
A fully digital 3-axis servo control system allows the cut point to be held to within ± 0.2mm even at high line-speeds. Both of the caterpillar in-feeder belts have their own AC servo drive. These are synchronised to within one encoder pulse per motor revolution. This represents a speed-holding accuracy of better than 0.0005% Gillard say.
The Servo-Torq Ultra will also reportedly be able to handle conventional smooth plastic and rubber tubing at high speeds. Special blades have been developed to give a clean, square cut finish on materials as diverse as nylon with ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) and silicone rubber.
As well as this new machine, Gillard will also be exhibiting other types of extrusion cutting machinery and two caterpillar pullers/haul-offs.
Gillard will be in hall 15, stand B23 at K 2010.
