EuroMold 2010 Welcomes Turkey as Partner Country

With Turkey as the announced partner country for EuroMold 2010, the event organizer DEMAT GmbH is dedicating the next international trade fair for mould making and tooling, design, and application development to a rapidly emerging economy that is especially prominent in the fields of automotive engineering and electronics.

Every year, Turkey produces more than 1 million vehicles, and the production trend is strongly upward. The automotive industry sector employs around half a million people. In Istanbul, principal industries include bus and tractor construction and diesel engines. Turkey essentially leads Europe in bus production.

The electronics industry also displays enormous growth. Several Turkish companies produce components for many well-known brands. These components are to be found in about a third of all televisions sold in Europe. Such well-known international manufacturers as Bosch and Sony have established manufacturing facilities in Turkey.

Thus, enormous opportunities for mould making and tooling enterprises exist in Turkey. Its central position between Asia, the Gulf States and Europe makes Turkey a significant new industry player. For several years, interest in EuroMold has been growing in Turkey.

Turkey’s GDP has been growing at an annual average rate of 5% for nearly 30 years. In that way, the nation resembles India, Russia and South Korea and qualifies to be counted among the economically significant nations.

Economically, the European Union and Turkey are close linked, with the EU accounting for approximately half of Turkish imports. Turkey has become one of the Union’s most important markets. More important for EuroMold, perhaps, Germany is by far Turkey’s largest trading partner.

With specific regard for mould making and tooling, Turkey is now exceptionally attractive to the European market. Partnerships with Turkish suppliers are being established more and more frequently. Specialized mould and tool manufacturing enterprises have emerged in Turkey, which are cost-competitive with manufacturers in eastern Asia but offer the advantage of being situated at Europe’s doorstep. Numerous western European mould manufacturers, recognizing this, have consequently established branches and cooperative arrangements in Turkey.

EuroMold 2010 takes place December 1–4 at the Frankfurt Exhibition Centre in Germany.
