Analysis of Chinas Imports and Exports of Die and Mould

According to the Customs statistics, China’s total imports & exports of die & mould in the 1st half of 2009 (Jan.-June) amount to USD 1.913 billion. The total imports are USD 1.033 billion and the total exports are USD 0.88 billion. Compared with the statistics YOY (Jan.-June, 2008), the total imports & exports decrease by 3.53%, exports increase by 1.38% and imports decrease by 7.35%. The details are as follows:
 
1.         As per die & mould category, the biggest import-export volume comes from plastic and rubber die & mould, accounting for 49.27% and 71.5% of imports and exports respectively. The second biggest is press and punch die & mould, accounting for 44.04% and 21.36% of imports and exports respectively. Please check Form 1.

2.         As per source of China’s die & mould imports, imports mainly come from Japan, Korea and Germany, and Taiwan Province, USA, Italy, Canada, France, Singapore and Denmark in the second tier. Please check Form 2.

3.         As per destinations of China’s die & mould exports, the main export markets are Hong Kong, USA and Japan. The second tier markets are Germany, India, China’s Taiwan Province, France, Malaysia, Brazil and Singapore. Please check Form 3.

4.         As per destinations of China’s die & mould imports, the top importers in China are Jiangsu, Guangdong and Tianjin, and Shanghai, Beijing, Jilin, Fujian, Zhejiang, Shandong and Liaoning in the second tier. Please check Form 4 for the imports of the above top ten importers of China

The statistics above show that China’s die & mould total imports and exports decreased in the 1st half of 2009, but the exports grew against the trend of the global slump in demand. The growth rate YOY of 1.38% is by no means easy, which shall be regarded as a testimony of China’s improvement of competitiveness in die & mould.
