Shenzhen Mould ranks top in scale and quality in China. The total annual sale takes up about 25%. However, the moulds manufactured in Shenzhen still cannot be compared with those manufactured in developped countries in size, precision, complexity, and long life. In order to upgrade Shenzhen Mould industry, Shenzhen government has planned to set up a mould city in Guangming District.

Shenzhen mould industry grew up at the end of 1980s. Shenzhen is next to HongKong, and is one of the earliest cities that developped during China’s open up. In 1980s and 1090s, many HongKong mould enterprises had moved to Shenzhen, which had laid a solid foundation to Shenzhen mould industry, and also provided favorable environment to fitment enterprises. The move attracted top 500 enterprises such as RICOH, PHILIPS, EMERSON, to locate in Shenzhen. And further attracted their OEM factories. By this way, Shenzhen has formed an industry chain of electronic, telecom, and electric appliances. The national way No. 107 and No. 205 are the famous mould corridor. International famous mould enterprises SHZBG, POSSEHL ELECTRONICS, etc. are all on these two roads.

With over 20 years development, Shenzhen has became one of developed cities in China. In 2003, the industry output of Shenzhen was USD 61 billion (507.377 billion RMB). Mould industry has made great contribution. It also grew stronger and stronger gradually. With decades of development, Shenzhen mould industry has played an important role in China. It is ranks the top in China. According to statistics, there are more than 1000 mould enterprises in Shenzhen, the total output exceeded 10 billion RMB, which took up 30% of Guangdong mould output, and almost 20% of China. The workers are about 100 thousand, engineers and technicians take up more than 30%. Mould enterprises with over billion outputs such as Hongzhun, Boshi, Dongjiang, Jingying, Youlian, Minghui, are famous worldwidely, among which, Hongzhun Mould of Foxccon is the biggest mould enterprise in China, it’s output in 2003 exceeded 0.6 billion yuan. IC wire frame mould produced by Boshi mould reached international standard with wire thickness of 0.15mm. It is known that moulds of Nokia, Motorala, Little Duck washing machine, Hitechi airconditioner are all made in Shenzhen.

However, Shenzhen mould was dominated by midium and low quality, and cannot satisfy the market with large, precision, complex and long life moulds. In 2003, in order to promote moulds development, Shenzhen planned to set up mould basement, which has proved that has made great contribution to Shenzhen mould development by far.

Until now, 9 famous enterprises include Zhaoheng, Yihe, Haixiangming has moved into the mould industry zone.. Yihe Precision has came into the market in HongKong, and is one of the top 10 enterprises in Shenzhen. It mainly produces precision metal punch dies, and supplies for world top 500 enterprises like Canon. There are more than 200 mould and mould related enterprises in the zone by far. Industrial output in 2008 is 0.6 billion yuan, and it is estimated total output will reach 1.22 billion yuan in 2009.
